Spider Web Cake

Here are the ingredients to make this delicious recipe!
Spider cake Ingredients:
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 ½ tbsp cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp fine sea salt
- 375g caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 284ml buttermilk
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 2 x 10g packs red gel food coloring
- 350g plain flour
- 200g salted butter plus a little extra for pan
Chocolate Icing
- 300ml carton double cream
- 250g dark chocolate (70% cocoa), roughly chopped
- 1½ tbsp liquid glucose
- 50g white chocolate, roughly chopped
Cheese Filling
- 120g salted butter at room temperature
- 120g Philadelphia soft cheese
- 120g icing sugar
Now pay close attention….
- Preheat oven 350F
- Grease spring form cake tin with parchment.
- Mix All the cake ingredients in slowly, beating as you go.
- Scrape into cake tin
- Bake for 1 hour then let cool.
- Icing time!- Melt cream, chococlate and glucose in bowl over a pan of hot water. Melt white chocolate in separate bowl. Then add into piping bag.
- For cheese filling. – Beat together the ingredients
- Take bottom layer of cake and spread filling, repeat for middle layer and put rest of filling on top. Let this sit in refrigerator for 20 min.
- Invert cake on rack to provide workplace to ice. Pour the dark chocolate icing over the center of the cake. Use long strokes as in video to smooth it and coat entire surface.
- Decorate as per video to form spider web!
